Route 12A offers hikers an easier option by bypassing the section leading to Gourouni Lighthouse. Instead, it follows a shorter route to two remarkably well-preserved Hellenistic watchtowers, once part of the island's ancient defence and communication network.

Set among old farmland in the quiet northern part of Skopelos, these historic monuments offer a fascinating insight into the island's past. The entire route follows an easy rural road, making it suitable for hikers of all ages and experience levels.
