WWII German Observatory

Route 4A is an optional extension to Route 4, giving hikers the opportunity to visit the remains of military installations built by the German occupation forces during the Second World War.

The trail leads through a remote and unspoiled landscape, where aromatic Mediterranean herbs and colourful wildflowers flourish throughout much of the year. Its peaceful setting and natural beauty make this short detour a rewarding addition to the main route. The highlight of Route 4A is the magnificent panoramic view over the Aegean Sea and the surrounding coastline.
