Route 5 is an excellent choice for hikers looking to enjoy a longer walk without demanding climbs, while discovering the island's rich natural beauty, cultural heritage, and centuries-old traditions.

The route begins in Skopelos Town, winding through its charming stone-paved alleys, past traditional mansions, flower-filled courtyards, fragrant lemon trees, and colourful bougainvillea. This picturesque setting offers an authentic introduction to the island's distinctive architectural character.

In the fertile Kambos area, hikers encounter the first landmarks of the route: the ruins of the Monastery of Episkopi and the historic church of Aghios Ioannis Kambou, two important monuments that reflect the island's long and fascinating history. The trail then climbs gently through the Koimisia Valley, following an old footpath that is still used today by local farmers to reach their olive groves and orchards. Shortly after passing the island's heliport, the route enters the beautiful pine forests of the Psalidi area, where a shaded woodland trail provides a peaceful and refreshing hiking experience.

Continuing past the historic Monastery of Profitis Ilias, the route gradually descends towards Skopelos Town along traditional footpaths and quiet rural roads, revealing ever-changing views of the island's lush countryside. The hike concludes at the Shrine of Agios Riginos, the patron saint of Skopelos. According to local tradition, this is the place where the saint was martyred and died in 362 AD, making it one of the island's most significant places of pilgrimage and historical importance.
